Fun Trips From Benidorm Hotels
Benidorm is recognised as the birthplace of package tourism. People who book into Benidorm hotels are looking for an affordable fun-packed holiday with all the trimmings. Benidorm was once a small fishing village, prior to the 1960′s but is now famous for its lively bars, hotels and sandy beaches. With 4 theme parks nearby, the town is now very popular with families.
It is well worth exploring several of the quintessential Spanish towns, which are nearby. Guadalest is known for its ancient castle, which was built by the Moors in 1200 AD. After years of pack horses passing by, the walls of the castle are now incredibly smooth. The village has a craft centre and several unique bars, which have been incorporated into the surrounding rock. You are able to take a ferry to Calpe from hotels in Benidorm, to spend a day looking around the modern shops and bars or simply to relax on the beaches there. Denia is a mere 30-minute car drive away from Benidorm. {The Old Town leads down to a harbour and fish market}. From here, you can catch a ferry to the nearby Ibiza, or stay and experiment with the various water sports.
The narrow gauge railway in Denia runs through 17 tunnels and ends up in Alicante. The best beaches are to be found at Moraira, which nestles in a pretty bay below some imposing mountains. There is an abundance of shops, restaurants and bars here, but many years ago, the village was very much used in the fishing industy. There is also an old Moorish fort here, which is worth visiting.
Keep the whole family entertained by heading to the theme parks of Terra Mitica and Terra Natura, which are great for families staying in the cheap hotels nearby. The Terra Mitica theme park has an Ancient World theme, which consists of the ancient civilisations of Greece, Egypt, Rome, Iberia and The Islands. There is something for everyone in the park, with roller coasters for adrenaline junkies and live entertainment for families. Just outside Benidorm is the sister park of Terra Natura, located on the northern hillsides. It is a combination of a theme park and a zoo. Aqua Natura is also there, which is a water park, consisting of water slides and scary rides. There is entertainment here with circus shows, puppet shows, musical concerts and even theatre.
