Hotel Deals and All That Jazz
While the weather can be unpredictable during British summertime, one thing that is guaranteed is a fantastic calendar of music festivals. There’s no need to brave the elements when there are so many cheap hotels in the vicinity of UK festivals, with hotel deals on offer.
A wide variety of jazz festivals take place throughout the year but perhaps the most enjoyable are the ones that take place during the summer months. With such a broad spectrum of festivals to choose from, visitors are able to cater their experience to their exact requirements. For example, some festivals are held in venues spattered across city centres allowing for gigs to be built into weekend breaks, others are hosted on tiny farms in the middle of the countryside meaning you will have to get the camping equipment out.
Chichester plays host to the Real Ale and Jazz festival which is a great place to escape the elements, around 19th July at Priory Park – under cover and within striking distance of local hotels. An eclectic line-up includes ASWAD and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra among many other great acts. As the name suggests, there’s also a huge variety of real ales to sample.
Also playing host to some fantastic Jazz this summer is Birmingham.
Fifty city venues have given up space to almost 200 performers during the event. Confirmed acts for the 10 day affair include Digby Fairweather, Pat McCarthy and Len Skeat. With 25 years of festivals under its belt, the Birmingham jazz scene has well-established credentials.
Another treat for fans of city-based jazz festivals is the Manchester event, held from 22nd July to 30th July this year. Just like Birmingham festival, the majority of the 100 or so gigs are free of charge and you can catch over 400 local and international artists showcasing their talent at venues across the city. Among these acts, both local and international talent can be found. Manchester Jazz Festival always manages to pull in a lot of support, with 20,000 jazz fans having attended the last event.
If you prefer to get your jazz fix in more serene surroundings, head to the Brecon Jazz Festival instead. With an enviable location in the mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park, this festival delivers great music in an even better setting. Artists performing include the BBC Big Band and Maceo Parker, Matthew Herbert Big Band, Clare Teal and John Surman.
The list of UK festivals goes on and on and there is sure to be something to suit you whatever your tastes may be. Find your perfect venue and the music you really love, kick back and enjoy a great summer of festivals.
