Luxury cruises are for everyone
It is undeniable that luxury cruises have loyal fans and hateful enemies. Those who hate them though, most of the time havent even tried and they are rather biased. Because the industry was created and reached its heyday during the first half of the twentieth century that doesnt mean that they belong to the past. Names such as the Titanic or the Britannic sound mythical for todays standards but up to this day there are great boats all around the world. It is a fact that many luxurious boats ended up in the depths of the oceans tragically.
Watching the Titanic when I was still a teenager I was amazed by the size, wealth and all that incredible amount of money spent for the construction of a luxurious boat, which was meant to be unsinkable. My aunties who were living in the US, were coming to Europe every year on a cruise boat, not because it they were cheap but because they were afraid of planes. I still remember them telling me about the fun and excitement they were having on board on their way from New York to Southampton.
I guess that what makes luxury cruises so appealing to some people is the romance that comes with them. After so many Hollywood made cruise films it seems extraordinary if anyone will ever get in a cruise without falling in love with that beautiful and aristocratic man/woman. At the same time I knew that my budget wouldnt make it very possible to try any of those five star cruises my aunties were always talking about. I cant forget their excitement each time they are talking about those great Silver Sea cruises or about those Oceania cruises that were always leaving me indifferent.
It all changed though after my wife won a pair of tickets for a luxury cruise in a competition and I was forced to join her. It didnt stop there though and since then Ive been in a cruise 3 more times.
