India is country known for its cultural heritage. It is located in southern part of the Asia which is the second most populated country in the world. In the coming years there is a chance that India leads in population. India has Himalayas in the north and is surrounded by large water bodies on three sides.

India is among developing nations. India has twenty eight states and seven Union Territories. The states in India are further divided as districts and villages. Here are some of the major cities of India and their famous tourist places.

New Delhi: New Delhi is located on banks of Yamuna river. New Delhi is the capital city of India. It has all the major government bodies like parliament of India. New Delhi is famous for political and commercial centre of India. Agra which holds the beautiful Taj Mahal is located near by Delhi. The Taj Mahal is among the seven wonders of the world.

Mumbai:Mumbai earlier known as Bombay is the second most populated city of the India. Mumbai is the capital of the state Maharashtra. It holds the famous financial institutions like Reserve Bank of India and National Stock exchange of India. Mumbai now holds several Multinational companies headquarters. Mumbai is the home city for several commercial and entertainment centre of India.

Chennai: Earlier known as Madras is the capital city of the Tamil Nadu state. It is located in the southern part of the India. People in Tamil Nadu speak Tamil. Chennai holds two major sea ports, international airport and five national highways.



Hyderabad: Hyderabad the capital city of Andhra Pradesh is major attraction for tourist. It is well known for its famous dishes. Hyderabadi biryani is the well known dish in all parts of the world. Now Hyderabad has got a an international airport which is located at shamshabad. The famous tourist attraction places of Hyderabad are Charminar, Golconda fort, Hussain sagar lake and HITEC cityother places. Hyderabad now hold the famous US consulate Office.

Bangalore: Bangalore is the capital city of the Karnataka state. Officially it is known as Bengaluru. The IT industry, Telecommunication sector and Electronic sector has shown a great boom in Bangalore. Bangalore is also for its greenery. Due to remarkable development in IT sector it is known as the Silicon valley of the India.

Kolkata: Kolkata is the capital city of the west Bengal state. It is one of the metro cities of India. It houses the famous Salt Lake stadium which is the largest in Asian continent and second largest in the world. Victoria Memorial is the famous tourist attraction place of the Kolkata. Kolkata was earlier known as Calcutta.
