Costa Rica’s Regions

Costa Rica is broken up into 8 major regions, each with differences in landscape and climate. It is easier to understand how Costa Rica is laid out if you have a regions map. Almost every where in the country is accessible by road even though they are mostly unpaved and made of rock and dirt. To help get you from one region to another there is a major network of paved roads in the country too. For moving around the country you should definitely rent a 4×4. Taxi’s are not recommended due to their price and limiting your experiences. Just don’t speed no matter what. Tickets are very expensive.
