Madrid is the capital and the largest city of Spain. It has a population of around 3.4 million and is located just 646 meters above sea level. The main attractions of Madrid are its bullfights, splendid architectures, museums, food, music and dance. Most Spanish people love to stay out late at night on weekends, socializing at their neighbourhood pubs. Madrid has a continental climate, summers are mostly very blistering and dry and winter are pretty cold with occasional snowfall. Spring and fall is the best time to visit Madrid when temperature is mild.

Hotel Prices The average price per room per night in Madrid is ¬90 but it is advisable to keep a track on hotelbooking websites as they sometimes provides some very good discounts.
Hostel Prices The cost of a bed in a dorm is around ¬10. Serviced apartments are good value for money if you are travelling in a group of 5 or 6 people. A 2 bed serviced apartment costs around ¬70 depending on the season.

In Madrid lunch is the main meal of the day and restaurants across Madrid offers fixed lunch menu and a very resonable rate In Spain lunch is the biggest meal of the day and most of the restaurant offers fixed menu at a cheap rate compare to a la carte. The fixed menu generally costs around ¬9-10. Most Spanish people have their lunch quite late so if you have a heavy lunch you won’t feel much hungry throughout the day. Have a heavy lunch so that you can eat something light for dinner. University canteens are a good option for saving money on your food. You do not have to be a student to eat in the cafeteria.
