Why Not Take A Farming Holiday In France?

Not everyone is going to like this but there are a lot of people who like to go and work on a French farm while they are on holiday in the country. Now for many of us the word holiday probably conjures up an image of lying on a beach somewhere in the sun. After all, we work hard all year round so why would we possibly want to work on our holidays? Well, it seems that these days many people from the UK and elsewhere are using their holidays to go work on a farm in France.

Peter Mayles book A Year in Provence has been attributed for kick-starting this trend for agricultural holidays. It seems his idea of escaping the rat race to go work on a French farm has really caught the public imagination and now more of us have decided that we want some of that for ourselves. Few people though can afford to take a year off, like Peter Mayle, but they are compromising with a few weeks here and there. And the farmers in France are absolutely loving this as they are getting workers on their farms for free; the French tourist board are kind of happy with the idea too.

These days it is just so easy for people in the UK to nip over to France for a few days; we now have a handy tunnel connecting the two countries. These holidays have proved to be very popular lately as many who have taken them have reported to feeling very refreshed at the end on them. It seems you really dont need to go lie on a beach to have a relaxing holiday. Working can bring its own form of stress relief; remember the motto a change is as good as a rest.

Today, more and more families are taking the car and driving to their holiday destination abroad. Many people head to the South Coast to grab thedover to Calais ferry. This often saves worrying about driving through the tunnel and worrying about channel tunnel prices. What better way than heading over and doing some Calais shopping?
